Who We Are

RaricaNow is a non-profit organization with the sole aim of Promoting Human Rights for all LGBTIQ+ refugees and newcomers in Canada, raise awareness about the current gaps in service and struggles for this unique population

It was founded in 2017 to address the current issues of lack of resources and support for LGBTQ+ youth  in the queer community that are left untouched and ignored, with the hopes that one day all will be well preaching to the world that every single life matters regardless of the differences.

Recognizing the urgent need for a safe and inclusive space where young people could feel supported and empowered, Adebayo Katiti founded RaricaNow. (Rights for LGBTIQ Newcomers and Refugees in Canada Now,  Reason of Hope)

Initially operating out of a small community center, the organization quickly gained momentum, and soon began offering a range of programs and services, including counseling, support groups, and educational workshops. As word spread, the demand for their services grew, and they soon expanded to a larger location with more resources.

Our Story

The story of RaricaNow is a story of black trans refugees and newcomers from Africa coming to Canada and creating a space dedicated to being the Reason of Hope and creating a better life for 2SLGBTIQ persons, especially transgender and non-binary folx. It is a story of a struggle to liberate the trans and QTBIPOC populations of Canada and the rest of the world. At the center, the needs of all transgender persons, refugees and Newcomers are made the priority. All stories, histories and spiritual practices are sacred.

We welcome all 2SLGBTIQ+ Newcomers, no matter where they are on the spectrum-including if they are still questioning. We know in the countries we come from it’s hard to navigate resources and educate ourselves about the spectrum and our identities.
